Gigabyte Launched 3 New Smartphones in India


Gigabyte has announced the launch of three new smartphones.

The company will initially introduce three models of its touchscreen Windows Mobile PDA phones GSmart - MS820, MW702 and MW700. First showcased at the Mobile World Congress in February, Gigabyte claims they received excellent reviews and were very highly rated by industry analysts, critics and users.

MS820

The GSmart MS820 is the top of the line PDA phone from the company and is designed for the business user. It is 3.5G capable and offers a 5 Megapixel autofocus camera, VGA screen, face recognition and accelerometer.

It also comes with a multimedia center that includes a photo editor, music player and FM radio. The GPS tracking feature enables users to download online maps and edit traveling paths to create personal traveling journals. Geotagging of photographs is also supported. Then there is the usual plethora of features which are expected from a smartphone. Wi-Fi, e-mail MMS, SMS, Bluetooth and USB connectivity. At 140 grams, the MS820 is sleek and svelte for the heavyweight features it offers.

The other two GSmart models MW702 and MW700 are at entry-level price range and also have Windows Mobile Professional operating system and features like Smart Touch User Interface, GPS tracking, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, WAP and USB connectivity, Radio, Sim Manager, Recorder, etc. All the devices run the Smart Touch interface on Windows Mobile 6.1.

The MS820, MW702 and the MW700 have been priced at Rs. 36,999, Rs.29,999 and Rs.16,999 respectively.

Virgin Mobile Launches Fantasy IPL Games in India

Telecom service provider Virgin Mobile Wednesday launched an online cricket fantasy game, Indian Hatke League (IHL), with an aim to leverage the cricket mania during the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

The online game will provide users the option to play for any of the eight teams participating in the 47-day IPL, to be held in South Africa April 18-May 24, while their scores on the basis of performance will determine their standings.

Launching the game here, Virgin Mobile chief executive M.A. Madhusudan said the initiative was strictly a 'brand-building exercise'.

'We have launched the game for the Indian youth and not just for Virgin Mobile customers. The players will compete against each other during the period with the prospect to win prizes at the end of the tournament,' he said.

The company is offering Hyundai's recently launched hatchback i20, Sony's video game console Play Station and Virgin Mobile handsets as prizes to the winners of the IHL game.

According to reports, the company earlier had plans to be part of the Twenty20 extravaganza by striking sponsorship deals with Delhi Daredevils, but it pulled out as the tournament's venue was shifted to South Africa.

Intex has launched two new feature-rich handsets - IN 5000 and IN 5040.

The IN 5000 is Intex's first GSM touch-screen mobile phone. It has a 2" TFT touch screen and is enveloped in a leather flap. Other features include FM radio, mobile tracker, camera, expandable memory up to 2GB, GPRS, Bluetooth, audio and video player and a 1000 contacts phonebook memory. The IN 5000 is priced at Rs. 5000 (MOP).

The IN 5040 is the second variant in the company's portfolio of Dual SIM phones. Offering the convenience of two phones, this model also has features like a camera, Bluetooth with A2DP (new technology for enjoying music through Bluetooth), FM radio, USB PC connectivity, expandable memory, audio and video player and a 1000 contacts phonebook memory.

The IN 5040 costs Rs. 5500 (MOP).


The IN 5000 also includes features like FM radio, mobile tracker, camera, expandable memory up to 2 GB, GPRS, Bluetooth, audio and video player and a 1000 contacts phonebook memory. Besides being a mobile phone, Intex said the IN 5000 is a complete entertainment gadget for audio and video gizmo freaks. Introduced at Rs. 5,000/- (MOP), the company said the phone is perhaps one of the most competitively priced handsets in the GSM touchscreen segment.

The Intex IN 5040 is the second variant in the company's portfolio of G + C Dual SIM phones. Offering convenience to mobile users using two phones, this model also delivers a complete repertoire of features demanded by today's tech savvy users. Motorola Launches MotoYuva W160 and W156 in India

Motorola India has strengthened its Motoyuva portfolio by launching two new mobile phones: the sleek, black-and-white FM radio MOTOYUVA W160 and the slim, elegant, affordable MOTOYUVA W156.

Samsung Impression Smartphone SGH A877

Samsung's latest non-smartphone on AT&T features a full sliding keyboard in landscape mode and a unique AMOLED touchscreen, which AT&T claims to be the first commercially available. The SGH A877 cellphone features a QWERTY slide out keyboard.The new screen technology gives a brighter screen and better viewing angles. The device will be available in the coming weeks for $199 with rebates from AT&T.

The display screen is AMOLED, and the phone features an accelerometer to rotate the display automatically based on how the phone is held, like in the iPhone.

The Samsung SGH A877 Impression supports quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz), EDGE and WCDMA data connectivity, along with Bluetooth and wireless handsfree headsets.

    Motorola New Touchscreen EVOKE QA4 Announced

    Motorola has introduced a new phone called the Evoke QA4, with a 2.8" full touch-screen.


    The Evoke supports different messaging styles with a full touch-screen QWERTY keyboard and slide out traditional keypad. Users can customize the home screen content with integrated widgets and personalized RSS feeds, and use the full HTML browser to share pictures, videos and more online.

    "We understand the importance of having a mobile phone that helps you stay connected simply and seamlessly with your friends and family, whether you prefer to talk, text or network," said Mark Shockley, corporate vice president and general manager, Motorola Mobile Devices. "Motorola Evoke offers the cutting-edge convenience and instant gratification of a full touch-screen, intuitive online browsing and the ability to stay plugged in on your terms."

    Evoke offers multiple ways to make a phone call with a physical slider keypad and intuitive dialing features on the touch-screen. Equipped with an accelerometer, Evoke can be turned on its side to reveal a full-touch QWERTY keyboard. It also has home screen messaging icons, predictive text, IM-style messaging and Bluetooth.

    Web connectivity lets users publish photos and clips taken with Evoke onto their favorite blogs and sharing sites. Touching the screen gives instant access to a full HTML browser and quick-start widgets can be used to bring up sites such as MySpace and YouTube. It also features built-in integration with MySpace.

    The Evoke QA4 will be available in Q2 2009. Pricing is unknown.

    The LG GD330 is a slider phone and is designed on the look and style of LG Secret, but with lesser features. This will have a 2.2-inch screen display
