Finally There is a good news for all the Apple Iphone Lovers in India. Apple is launching Apple Iphone 3G S in India on September 19,2009 (As per Fonearena).

Iphone 3G S is the most awaited phone of the year in India. But saying all that, there is a bad news too. Apple is release 3G S at a very high price which may work against it.

Nokia N900- The Maemo and Linux Based Mobile

Nokia marked the next phase in the evolution of Maemo software with the new Nokia N900. Taking its cues from the world of desktop computing, the open source, Linux-based Maemo software delivers a PC-like experience on a handset-sized device.

The Nokia N900 has evolved from Nokia's previous generation of Internet Tablets and broadens the choice for technology enthusiasts who appreciate the ability to multitask and browse the internet like they would on their desktop computer.

"With Linux software, Mozilla-based browser technology and now also with cellular connectivity, the Nokia N900 delivers a powerful mobile experience," says Anssi Vanjoki, Executive Vice President, Markets, Nokia. "The Nokia N900 shows where we are going with Maemo and we'll continue to work with the community to push the software forward. What we have with Maemo is something that is fusing the power of the computer, the internet and the mobile phone, and it is great to see that it is evolving in exciting ways."

The Nokia N900 packs a powerful ARM Cortex-A8 processor, up to 1GB of application memory and OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics acceleration. The result is PC-like multitasking, allowing many applications to run simultaneously. Switching between applications is simple, as all running content is constantly available through the dashboard. The panoramic homescreen can be fully personalized with favorite shortcuts, widgets and applications.

The Nokia N900 has 32GB of storage, which is expandable up to 48GB via a microSD card. For photography, the Maemo software and the N900 come with a new tag cloud user interface that will help users get the most out of the 5MP camera and Carl Zeiss optics.

Samsung Mpower 699 CDMA OMH Mobile in India

Samsung Mobiles and Qualcomm has come up together to release world’s first OMH (Open Market Handset) CDMA handset- Samsung MPower 699 Slider Mobile Phone in India.
By OMH, It means that this CDMA mobile phone can be used across any CDMA service provider in India. One does not need to buy the cellphone from the service provider only. This phone just needs a OMH SIM Card to operate.

“This technology will help migration between operators in all our CMDA (Code Division Multiple Access) phones,” Samsung India country head Sunil Dutt said at the launch of the handset

Reliance offering Wireless Internet at Rs.98 per Week

elecom operator Reliance Communications (RCom) Tuesday announced the launch of a high-speed wireless internet service plan and other initiatives aimed at 500,000 villages.

“RCom’s rural thrust would drive internet penetration across rural and suburban terrain and provide value-added services specific to the rural needs,” said RCOM’s wireless division president S.P. Shukla.

“The Indian telecom wireless rural subscriber base is now over 125 million. The next wave of telecom growth is emerging from rural India. With rural base expected to double in the next few years, RCom is committed to drive this exponential growth through innovative and ground-breaking service offerings and tariffs,” said Shukla.

According to RCom president Mahesh Prasad, mobile telephony is rapidly overcoming the challenge of access in rural areas.

“Our goal is to offer to this large rural population innovative products and services customized for rural and local needs, and tap the highly potential but relatively unaddressed market topography,” Prasad said.

The company’s rural drive will comprise three initiatives: BharatNet Plan, GrameenVAS and M2M (Machine to Machine) solutions.

The BharatNet Plan, a high-speed wireless Internet service, will cover over 20,000 rural locations, and is RCom’s strategy to drive rural Internet penetration.

BharatNet will be offered at Rs.98 a week. “Driving Internet penetration across the country beyond major cities is a key priority for us,” said Prasad.

GrameenVAS will offer value-added services (VAS) to cater to specific needs of rural mobile phone users. Services will include providing market rates, agriculture and animal husbandry updates and weather forecast in multiple Indian languages.

M2M applications will aid automation of agro- and irrigation services, water level monitoring, data gathering for milk and agri-cooperatives, fisheries, poultry, and soil analysis.
