Design and Looks
HTC desire S has an aluminum body giving it a shinny and stylish look compared to the plastic dominated body of Wildfire S. Desire S is much larger in size than Wildfire. Wildfire is only 101.3mm in height compared to 115mm height of Desire S. Desire S also weighs only 105g in contrast to 130g Wildfire S. The former is also slightly thinner than the later.
Desire S bears a 3.7 inch SLCD capacitive touch screen compared to 3.2inch LCD capacitive touchscreen of Wildfire S. Desire S also has better color displaying capacity of 16M in contrast to 256K of Wildfire S.
Both phones feature a 5MP camera with resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels. They also support touch focus, image stabilizer and geo-tagging features. Wildfire S also supports face detection but Desire S is capable of recording HD 720p video at 30fps and support video calling unlike Wildfire S which is only capable of recording VGA video at 24fps and has no secondary camera.
Processor and OS:
Desire S features 1 Ghz processor with a decent GPU whereas Wildfire S only has 600MHz of processing power. Both phones runs the latest Android 2.3(Gingerbread) OS
Desire S has an internal storage capacity of 1.1 GB with 768MB of RAM in contrast to internal storage capacity of 512MB and same amount of RAM in wildfire S. Both smart phones support memory expansion via SD memory card up to 32GB.
Both smart phones have very much the same connectivity features with GPRS (max 114kbps download speed), edge( max 568 MB download speed), Wifi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v3.0 with A2DP and micro USB 2.0.
