Apple Inc. announced its most awaited next generation iPhone as the iPhone 5. Apple regards its new ‘evolution’ as being the Lightest, Fastest, Thinnest iPhone ever made. Tech arena was buzzing with the launching of iPhone 5 which goes on sale next week in US followed by other markets. Now we were quite oblivious to the fact that Apple has always delayed the launch in India by few months and that is what will be seen with iPhone 5 also. India is not among the first two groups of countries where the Smartphone would make its presence. Although some calculations have been made regarding the launch but that is not the sole reason to worry about. India will of course get the iPhone 5 but the present technology here will be a limitation to the Apple’s evolution.
Let us start with the know-hows of the iPhone 5: ‘the biggest thing to happen to iPhone since iPhone’
DESIGN: iPhone 5 measures 123.8 mm in height, 58.6 mm in width, and thickness being just 7.6mm. It is made up of Aluminum and Glass body which comes in white and black. The design is ravishing and sparkles every bit of apple’s precision, Indeed a Very well-crafted Smartphone.
DISPLAY: The iPhone 5 features a 4 inch Retina Display with in-Cell technology. The in-cell technology is fusing the touch sensors with the display pixels which results in more vibrant color representation and a thinner display. The display has a resolution of 1136×640 pixels with 326 ppi which gives much clarity. Also, the display is rugged with oleophobic coating which gives it a fingerprint resistant texture.
CONNECTIVITY: iPhone 5 has been provided with LTE connectivity but here in India the bandwidth of the 4G connections does not match the ones on which the iPhone 5 works. That leaves us with just the 3G option and the exclusivity of Nano-SIM card being used in the Smartphone. The telecom sectors in India have already started placing orders for Nano-SIM and the first wave of Telecom giants to get it include Airtel and Vodafone followed by Aircel.
Apart from the Cellular features iPhone 5 has been given WI-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0 as wireless connections. Apple has also introduced a new re-designed 8-pin connector which is called as ‘Lightning’.
CAMERA: It has an 8MP iSight camera with beefed up features including a f/2.4 aperture, backside illumination, Panorama, HD video Recording etc. are among to name a few. The facetime camera has also gone up with 720p resolution. Apple has used Sapphire Crystal for the surface of the camera which is practically un-scratchable.
PROCESSOR: Apple iPhone 5 uses an A6 Chipset which the giant claims to be faster than the A5 as well as is power-efficient. The A6 has an increase frame rate, improved pixel render for outstanding graphics that one can enjoy in games, movies.
OS: The iPhone 5 runs on iOS 6 which is the most advanced operating system by Apple till date. Although some main features for which the iOS 6 is being honoured will not work in India. Features for maps such as direction, turn by turn navigation, traffic updates, every new feature of SIRI introduced will also not make way in the country.
BATTERY: Apple has not provided any information on the capacity of the battery used in the iPhone 5 but has instead given numbers of it being efficient. Apple claims the talk time up to 8 hours on 3G, and stand-by time as 225 hours.
Apple is known for its innovations, precision, premium built and the state-of-the-art designs. This time again it has invented a thin and light design without giving up on the hardware front. Apple has made it ‘thinnest-lightest-fastest’ smartphone. Coming to the availability and prices, the iPhone 5 will take some months to arrive in India seeing the track record of previous releases in India. An expected launch should be in the month of November this year which also happens to be the Diwali season. The price range is also said to be started from Rs.45, 500 here in India.
