After going through a rough phase of leaks, a full fledged review, being lost in a bar and threatened by a Hurricane ; Google and LG have jointly launched what is known as the LG Nexus 4. Looking at it one would mistake it for its predecessor, the Samsung’s version of Nexus but mind you it is a whole new monster.
Going through the specifications, the LG Nexus 4 E960 features a 4.7″ of True IPS Display that has a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels giving out a pixel density of 318 ppi; all under a layer of Corning’s Gorilla Glass 2. The Nexus 4 is powered by four Krait cores clocked at 1.5 Ghz on a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro Chipset coupled with 2 GB of RAM. The Snapdragon S4 Pro is considered to be the most powerful chipset around and the graphics rendering has been assigned to Adreno 320 GPU.
As we have seen in past that with every Nexus branding being unveiled, Google launches a fresh new version of its operating system. Now, this time all those waiting for the next version of Android i.e Key Lime Pie to go live will have to do away with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It is indeed a new version but Google has just optimized the 4.1 Jelly Bean with some cool new features and performance upgrades.
Additionally, the LG Nexus 4 has an 8 megapixel rear camera with a resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels and a front facing 1.3 megapixel snapper. The camera has got a new feature, Photo Sphere which is just like the panorama shot except that one can use it vertically, horizontally and in as many directions you want.
Connectivity features such as GSM/HSPA+, DLNA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC have been provided in the LG Nexus 4.
It has a Standard Lithium-Polymer 2100 mAh battery which provides enough juice for the Nexus 4 to give 15 Hours of talk-time with the Stand-by time going up to 390 Hours. Additionally, it also supports Wireless charging.
Starting 13th of N0vember, the LG Nexus 4 will be available from Google Play Store in US, UK, Canada, Spain Germany, France and Australia at a price of $299 for the 8 GB Variant and $349 for the 16 GB Variant. The next phase of roll out will begin in Late-November for Europe, Central/South Americas, Asia, CIS and the Middle East.
Now for the people of India, those who are wanting to get their hands over it won’t have to wait much longer as the LG Officials here in India have told that the Device will be available 2-3 weeks after the Official availability. As for the price, expect it to fall as Rs.20,000/Rs.25,000 for the 8GB/16GB respectively.
